Richard Montgomerie is the founder and director of Freshwater Solutions Ltd. Richard is a freshwater scientist with over 15 years of research and consulting experience and has previously held senior positions at Kingett Mitchell Ltd and Golder Associates Ltd.

Richard has provided freshwater environmental services throughout Europe and New Zealand to the European Union, Newmont Waihi Gold Ltd, Fonterra Co-operative Group Ltd, Alliance Group Ltd, Winstone Aggregates Ltd, TrustPower Ltd and Contact Energy, Oceana Gold Ltd, Pike River Coal Ltd, WaterCare Services Ltd, Winstone Pulp International, Norske Skogg, numerous territorial authorities and central government agencies such as the Ministry for the Environment and the Ministry of Fisheries. Richard’s project management experience includes managing complex multidisciplinary project teams to assess the effects of hard rock, sand, coal and gold mining activities, treated wastewater discharges, hydro-electric generation, urban stormwater discharges and the preparation of ICMPs.
